Unforgettable Destination

NGORONGORO

The Ngorongoro Conservation Area (NCA) in Tanzania is a UNESCO World Heritage Site famous for the Ngorongoro Crater, the world’s largest unbroken, inactive volcanic caldera. It spans over 8,000 km2, featuring 25,000+ large animals—including the “Big Five”—and is a premier site for viewing endangered black rhino, while also serving as a unique, protected, multi-use area where indigenous Maasai people graze livestock alongside wildlife.

The Ngorongoro Crater is the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera. This breathtaking landscape shelters an incredible concentration of wildlife within its lush walls.

The name Ngorongoro of the crater has an onomatopoeic origin; it was named by the Maasai pastoralists after the sound produced by the cowbell (ngoro ngoro).

Few places in Africa offer the kind of breathtaking, almost surreal wildlife experience found in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Often called the “Eighth Wonder of the World,” the Ngorongoro Crater is one of the most unique safari destinations on the planet—where wildlife, landscapes, and human history come together in one dramatic setting.
