Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in Uganda, a 1994 UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a premier biodiversity hotspot located in the southwestern Virunga volcanoes region. It protects over 50% of the world’s endangered mountain gorillas, spanning 331 km² of ancient, mountainous rainforest with extremely high concentrations of trees, butterflies, and over 350 bird species. The “Impenetrable” Forest: Known for its dense canopy and steep terrain, the forest is one of the most biologically rich in East Africa, featuring over 1,000 flowering plant species, 100+ fern species, and 200+ butterfly species.

Kibale Forest National Park

Kibale National Park, located in western Uganda, is renowned as the “Primate Capital of the World,” boasting the highest density of primates in East Africa, including over 1,500 chimpanzees.
